Her first steps in writing were made while she was a high school student in the newspaper “Ustrem”. After that followed the publications in the newspapers “Borba”, “Narodna mladezh”, “Pulse”, “Literaturen vestnik”, “Gornooriahovsko slovo”, “Uchitelsko delo”.
She collaborated with the magazines “Plamak”,”Yantra”, “Svetlostrui”,”Chitalishte”, “Uchastie”, “Ptitsi v noshtta” , etc., and participated actively in the literature readings in her native town, in the region, and in the capital of Bulgaria – Sofia, Biala, V.Turnovo, Drianovo etc.
Her first poetry book “The spirit of the fire” was issued in 1992 and the second – “Sacred Soul” was issued in 1995 in bilingual versions – Bulgarian and English.
In 1996, Svetla’s next book, “Choose Your Game,” was published.

In this way the book was distributed to readers abroad. On 12th August, 1996 Svetla received an official parvi certificate for preserved author’s rights of the book “Sacred Soul ” in the Library of Congress in Washington DC.
In 1999, her book “Tears in Colorado” was published.
In 2001, her book “Thinking with My Heart” was published, edited by Blagovesta Kasabova
On 5th April, 2005 Svetla won the third prize in a National Poetry competition in Sofia – the capital of Bulgaria – which was organized by the cultural house “Nikola Y. Vaptsarov”.
In May 2005 she won the second prize in a literature competition organized in her native town – G.ORYAHOVITSA, the charter from which she received via mail in the USA.
In the beginning of 2006 a publisher in Bulgaria “Avangard print” – from the town of Russe published her poems in three verses “The birthday of the rain”, which book she devoted to her mother Yordana. During the same year Svetla provided to the attention of the American publisher in Pittsburg her book “Sacred Soul” . The publisher approved it and reprinted it.
During the summer of 2006, Svetla received an official invitation from the “International Society of Poets”- International poetry show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In 2007, Svetla published her poems in “A Treasury of American Poets III” – League of American Poets, /page 125/.
In 2009 “Faber” Publishing House – Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria published the book “Dreams in America”.
In 2014, “Best Hooked on Haiku” by George Hook, published on pages 17, 18, 19 of her works.
In 2023, Together with the Bulgarian poet Kancho Velikov, Svetla published a joint book of poetry – lyrics – “Star Rivers”.
In 2023 the book “Shadow to the Other Shore” was published by Faber Publishing House – V. Tarnovo, Bulgaria.
The poet’s new book, “Glimpses in the Calendar”, was released in early 2025.
The fourth edition of her book “Sacred Soul” is in print now at “MainSpring Publishing” in California.
Svetla continues to write poetry, preparing two new books, dedications, and a classic haiku.
